Requiem for mobile telephones Lubo Kristek staged the sixth installment of his provocative Requiem for Mobile Phones happening — this time in the historic heart of Barcelona. The performance transformed city streets into a living canvas, inviting residents and visitors to reflect on modern technology’s hold over our lives. With a blend of visual art, sound, and interactive gestures, Kristek challenged spectators to reconnect with human presence.

Kristek’s message draws attention to our dependence on modern technologies. In a symbolic gesture, the performers and the audience processed through to Port Gallery, where they surrendered their mobile phones. From those phones they created a traveling assemblage — turning objects of dependency into a collective artwork. Kristek transforms what binds us into what unites us.
